Dear Neighbors,

The Caddo Parish Commission has some big decisions to make in the coming weeks regarding our private property rights.

Requirements recommended by the Metropolitan Planning Commission and implemented in Caddo Parish allowed for gross overreach upon residents and property owners in Rural Caddo Parish, such as permit requirements for simple fence repairs, a ban on 4-wheelers parked in the front yard, limiting what kind of lightbulb was allowed on a front porch, etc.

ACT 294 (McCormick) provided a solution that protects our private property rights.

This new law takes power away from an appointed board in Shreveport (MPC) and gives that planning power back to our elected officials at the Caddo Parish Commission (CPC), providing accountability.

The old system will be removed and a new one will be implemented on January 1, 2022. To assist with planning and drafting, the Caddo Parish Commission created a Citizens Advisory Committee, made up of local residents to help voice the concerns of citizens.

It is CRITICAL that residents and property owners of Caddo Parish SPEAK UP during this planning period!

Thank you for taking time to submit a survey.
